Mom Blogs at Parentin.Tv

I just read updates and articles of Mom Blogs at Parentin.Tv. I have attended Parentin Talk Series hosted by Cristine Bersola Babao herself and it was really a great experience meeting other moms at the events. I am also proud to be in a circle of moms online sharing the same views about parenting.

Please check www.parentin.tv/, the first Philippine online parenting show created and hosted by Cristine Bersola Babao, a multi-awarded celebrity host and momprenuer. The website is designed to nurture and educate not just moms but also dads, grandparents and the entire family.

Nostalgia #63: A Gift

I got this accessories from Techa of Pensive Thoughts which I wore last Ipanema event. (above photo) Although it looked blurry, I love this picture as it was my first attempt to pose for Fashion Week. Carry on. Lol. You are so sweet Tech for giving me such gift. Thank you very much for this.

The Benefits of Chocolate

No, the title is not wrong. There are in fact multiple benefits to eating chocolate. The first benefit obviously being the taste. There is no doubt about it chocolate tastes good, and where is the harm in treating your taste buds now and again. Plus, eating something that tastes good makes you feel good. However, there are other benefits to consuming this heavenly treat.

For starters, dark chocolate is filled with antioxidants, which protect the body from free radical that can cause aging and heart disease. In fact, chocolate has more antioxidants than certain fruits. Therefore, it is true that small quantities of dark chocolate can slow down the aging process better than some fruits.

Second, dark chocolate can possibly lower your blood pressure. The medical field is not entirely sure how, but studies have shown a small amounts of dark chocolate each day can lower blood pressure over time. Additionally, in other studies the consumption of dark chocolate has been linked to the reduction of bad cholesterol.

As an added bonus, chocolate also contains serotonin, which acts as a feel good stimulate, which can ward off feelings of depression. Other ingredients include endorphins and caffeine, which act as stimulants. All of these ingredients can boast our mood, and make for a better day.
Additionally, not all of the fats in chocolate are necessarily bad for us. Dark chocolate contains oleic acid, which is a monounsaturated fat that is also found in olive oil and avocado. Another fat found in dark chocolate is stearic acid, which has not been proven to increase or decrease cholesterol.

With that said there are certain limitations to consider when consuming chocolate. For one, do not eat too much of a good thing. Despite its benefits, dark chocolate still contains palmitic acid, which is a saturated fat, know to raise your bad cholesterol and increase your risk of hard disease. Plus, saturated fats are linked to weight gain, which can cause certain health problems and risks. Additionally, when consider what kind of chocolate to consume, always go for the dark. Both milk and white chocolate cannot make the same health claims that dark chocolate can. Plus, milk chocolate most always has a higher fat content then its darker counterpart.

As long as you consume chocolate wisely, and stick to only eating dark chocolate, you can reap the many benefits now associated with chocolate. Enjoy!

What They Love

My two girls are very picky when it comes to their clothes and shoes. They are very particular in choosing the brand and only pick what they think is comfortable and with latest design. My tween who is very bossy always dictates her older daughter about the kind of dress to wear but they go well together in picking the right shoes. I often see them together browsing online store and always look for some chic items on sale. They are sometimes sweet but they have petty quarrels too. They both love window shopping and when at the mall, they never get tired hopping to different sneaker stores and boutiques.

The picture below is my older daughter in her favorite outfit with the jacket that she borrowed from me while the photographer is her younger sister. Thumbs up!

Nostalgia #62: Remembering Samar

I was born in Samar. I was only four or five years old when we moved in to Batangas, my father's hometown. My father was a Biyahero. He met my mother in Samar and the rest is history. My sisters visited the place three years ago and they had great stories when they came back. I did not join them because I thought that it's kind of hard to travel with kids. There were some scenes that kept flashing back in my mind back in my pre-school years. I went to a school in a convent nearby and I was only four then. That's what I clearly recall because my teachers were nuns. I also remember whenever we visit my grandparents (my mother's side) and big trees were bountiful. Now I wonder if the forest is still existing by this time. Illegal logging has been rampant and was abused by people in power in the past decade.

Someday, I wanna go back to the place where I was born. I want to reminisce back years in my childhood. I wish my mother is still alive today. She would really love to have a vacation in her hometown too. Oh well reality bites. I just hope I can visit back before I reach my golden years.

Where is the name Bebang came from?

Zowanderer.com is giving away these beauties as a birthday giveaway. Just like any other contest, you need to follow the requirement in order to qualify. But this one is easy. Just answer the question "Where is the name Bebang came from?" Subscribe to her feed. Like her FB page. and follow her blog through GFC.

And here is my guess..

When Joane first saw this puppy, only one thing came into her mind, her boyfriend's sweet gesture. Her boyfriend calls her Bebe and so she named her puppy Bebang too. I only wish Joanne will give away her cute little puppy. But just like how she loves her babe, she wouldn't give it as a prize for a contest too. Head on to the link above and see how cute little puppy is Bebang. BTW, Bebang is not only cute, she's adorable and huggable too.

Happy Birthday Joanne!

Petaled Rose

In one of the events that I have attended last May, I was surprised to see all-natural-soap turned into a petaled rose. Other soaps were given as is, in a bar. Soap is a nice giveaway in a wedding, don't you think? This is a part of The Legend Villas wedding package.

Nostalgia #61: My First Jollibee Experience

I had my first taste of Jollibee when I was about 11. It was the first birthday of my cousin (I am not sure if it's her 1st birthday) and my aunt decided to celebrate her birthday at Jollibee. We drove miles away from southern part of Alabang to Mandaluyong just to reach the nearest Jollibee located at Crossing. There were only few branches then and I clearly remember what we ordered that time, burger and spaghetti. I was very excited to go home after the celebration to tell my friends about that experience. I wish we had a picture of the event, unfortunately, camera seemed to a possession of those who can only afford. Lol

Today, Jollibee has over thousand (not sure of the exact figure) of branches here and abroad. They expanded so quickly that you can find the branches anywhere in Manila, different spots and malls in the Philippines.

What I best in Jollibee is their chicken joy and spaghetti.

Parking Problems

If you live in an urban, you should not only expect the heavy traffic along your way but also the parking space. Full parking sign is not unusual especially during Christmas season in a place where malls and other establishments are busy. It is a real headache when you find yourself driving around but still unlucky to have a space to park. Such a bad hair day! You even drive slower to get the bigger chance. It is like winning in a raffle draw when you see a car about to exit in a park. It is called the right timing but it is not always a lucky day all the time. In my case where I don't drive a car, parking is not a problem at all. We take a cab every time we go out but I can feel the dilemma of those who are having trouble finding a park area and only wish that there is a car lift parking available to save space and time.

If you are caught in a non existent parking space, then find the nearest neighboring building with free parking instead. Just remember to park in a safe place and in a secured parking facility with trusted personnel whom you are confident enough to leave your car.

Another Rainy Weekend

It's another rainy weekend for us. Just another good excuse for us to stay inside the house and do my pending household chores. Honestly, I wanted to go out somewhere and look for sale items but the weather seems to be very cooperative and finds its way for me not to spend a single centavo on weekend. But I think it's the other way around online. Even if we're not going out to shop, online sale is tempting and everywhere in the Internet. I just opened a website and my eyes are drooling with items in a discounted price. I am contemplating again with this cheap deal. The shop has many collection of discount scrubs, accessories and other supplies. I need to grab the items because I have this feeling that supply will last very soon. Besides, shipping is free. What a great deal! I am not guilty in shopping but look, I am explaining here.

BTW, I need to check a purple bangles or bracelet for my dear friend Joy who will celebrate her birthday on July 12. She's so dear to me and she deserves a present which she already requested and this is not a surprise anymore. That's what she thinks. I am planning to personalize the gift. Wink.

Tutorials and More

What's keeping me busy lately? I allot one and half hours everyday for my tutorial to my younger daughter. She is now in her fifth grade and I think she needs my help to cope up with her lessons. I was supposed to hire a tutor in her Math subject who knows the tricks on how she will be able to learn the fastest and in detailed way. I talked to my daughter and said that she will cooperate during our tutorial instead. I told her that we could save money at the end of the month instead of hiring a tutor and she agreed. We can use the money that we will save to pay miscellaneous fees, school supplies or buy oxford english dictionary to help her understand and widen her vocabulary.

I wish that I have enough supplies when I was a kid. I went to school with incomplete project, no uniform and no books at all. I didn't even have enough money to buy food during recess. I wonder how I was able to graduate when I seemed to have been deprived in my school years. Maybe because we didn't have gadgets or computers that time that ate much time unlike the generation today.

Color Connection: Tangram

The Tangram, literally "seven boards of skill," is a dissection puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans, which are put together to form shapes. The objective of the puzzle is to form a specific shape (given only an outline or silhouette) using all seven pieces, which may not overlap. It was originally invented in China at some unknown point in history, and then carried over to Europe by trading ships in the early 19th century. It became very popular in Europe for a time then, and then again during World War I. It is one of the most popular dissection puzzles in the world.[ source: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia]

The Tangram that my daughter made in her school assignment. She chose the easiest one from from Google, the running girl, but she later changed it to bunny. LOL

A Good Sign

I envy Mommy Jes who just posted her new mobile desk in her social networking account. It wasn't actually her desk that caught my attention but her awesome body. I asked her some tips why she looks fit now but she did not reply. Or maybe, she was just good in hiding her belly.

Anyways, I don't indulge much to carb loaded meal and work harder at home. Would you believe that the last time I weighed in, I was 130 pounds and today my weight went down to 127. This is a good sign of my diet plan. I think that working out at home, taking apidexin and going on a vegetable diet are the best ways to tone down my body. I'm actually scared of undergoing cosmetic surgery. I hate needles! I cut down the calories that I intake everyday. I really had a hard time reducing weight but I'm really serious to achieve back to my original weight, at least down to 110 pounds. Achieving a healthy body requires a lot of discipline so I guess I should continue what I have just started lately.

Nostalgia #60: Manila Zoo

We frequent Manila Zoo when my daughters were still young but they show no interest visiting the park anymore. I honestly want to go back to Manila Zoo and walk again with my kids eager to discover and see the animals around them. The picture was taken inside the children's park. You need to pay extra fee for the entrance aside from the ticket at the main park.

On July 25, 1959, the Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden opened its doors to the public. It serves as one of the educational centers in the country where the viewing public can observe, discover and learn interesting facts about the beauty of Philippine fauna and flora.

Manila Zoo has a land area of 5.5 hectares and has a current population of about 500 animals. There are 106 species, among which are 30 different kinds of mammals, 63 reptile species and 13 types of birds. In addition to popular zoo occupants such as elephant, tigers lions and the hippos, Manila Zoo also houses several endemic and indigenous species of animals like the bearcat, long-talied macaques and crocodiles.

Located along Adriatico St., Manila, the Zoo also has canteens, souvenir shops, boating rentals at the lagoon and several playgrounds that cater to children and tourists.

With a good mix of education and entertainment purposes, the Manila Zoo does its best to appeal to everyone.

Nostalgia #59: Old and New Boxes

Husband hates me for having too many clutters in the house. But what can I do if I want to keep all those cute stuff in the house. Besides, he can do nothing, he lives miles away from my mess. See these old and new boxes? I have kept them for years already. This is where I put all my stuff like accessories and other things. The yellow one is a box from Victoria Secret perfume set that my MIL gave me a couple of years ago. I just can't let go of this one. Isn't this too pretty for trash?

On Being a Tenant

Few weeks ago, the door lock in our apartment was broken so I called up the owner for maintenance. When it comes to repair, I got no problems at all because the landlord seems to be very concern with their tenants. We actually have alarm and monitoring light for our security. Within few minutes, the repairman came and recommended that the door lock be replaced with new one because it was already broken. The front door lock was fixed but I shouldered the expenses as what I have agreed in the Lease of Contract. And because I am planning to install a new address plaques to further improve the house, I want to clarify if they will share the expenses because we cannot bring the plaque with us once we decided to move out in the future. The owner will benefit with the new look of the house. Sometimes, it is hard to be just a tenant. But what can I do? I have agreed and signed up with the terms and conditions of the contract.
