20 Ways You Can Be The Best Friend Ever

We all need friends. As the quote says, "Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they are meant to be there; they serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or help you figure out who you are." I just borrowed this quote  from the The Friendship Page,  it was sent in by Lindsay Russo. A real friend is hard to find much so, with best friend.  "Maleficent,"    if you search the meaning of it, means "doing evil or harm; harmfully malicious: maleficent destroyers of reputations."  You sure would like too watch the movie too from Disney to find out  who is  Maleficent.

Let's find ways  to make best friend first. I have more in my list but let me share you here  my 20 ways to be the best friends ever.
  1. Be your own best friend first because that's where you know you have respect for yourself.  If you can't respect yourself, you can't respect others too.
  2. Stay true to yourself.  She will love you who you are so just be yourself. Don't be pretentious.
  3.  Don't blame him/her but rather understand her.
  4.  Be trustworthy. Share secrets but keep it and be loyal to him/her.
  5.  Get closer but keep distance.  Individuals need their own space too.
  6.  Stand by him/her especially in times of need.
  7.  Be a good listener. Her burdens will lighten sometimes only by just listening.
  8.  Cook, eat and drink together.
  9.  Push her and don't pull her down.
  10.  Don't expect anything in return.
  11.  Treat your friend like the way you want to be treated.
  12.  Do adventures together.  Shop together. Have coffee together.  Watch movie  together.
  13. Compliment each other.
  14. Build memories. Have vacation together with her family. That will even make you closer and bonded together because you value who is important to her too.
  15. Let her hang out with other friends.   At the end of the day, you know you're still best friends.
  16. It's okay to fight just make sure you both work things out because that's when you'll grow and understand each other.
  17. Stick up to your best friend. If somebody insulted her, teased  or bullied her, don't just sit there  and watch. Do something and stand by her.
  18. Show that you care.  If she has problem but chose not to talk. Respect her but show that you care. You send give her a note, a card or flowers.
  19. Don't expect. Nobody is perfect right?
  20. Don't make the distance breaks you. Sometimes you become even besties and grow when apart. You see, a real friend calls. Call her. With GoUnli20, it’s now easy to call without a need for a prefix and it’s just P20 for unli calls, 15mb of mobile surfing, and 20 texts to all networks! Kaya if you need a friend, don’t call me, I’ll call you!

Novuhair 2-in-1 Nature's Answer to Hair Loss

The reason why I stop visiting hair salon for hairstyling such as straightening and rebonding,  is because I noticed that my hair is getting thinner  lately  and  falling out like   crazy.  Hair is woman's pride and crowning glory and the thought of  getting bald scared me a lot.      At Relish  Restaurant  last May 14, 2014,  Novuhair  2-in-1   gave me an specific answer  to  hair loss.   I  learned more  about  the problem and the  solution  with  the  hair and scalp expert guest speaker,  Dr.  Maria Cecilia Catapang.

Dr. Catapang  discussed  Alopecia Areata,  a  hair loss problem which is difficult to treat.

What is Alopecia Areata?

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder where the immune cells of the body go against the hair follicles making the hair strands weak at the base and easy to pluck. It is characterized by bald patches on the scalp that may join together and eventually render an individual hairless. Alopecia areata and may also attack other hairy parts of the body such as the eyebrows and pubic area.

Alopecia has many types, among them are pattern hair loss or common baldness; telogen effluvium or temporary hair shedding; and alopecia areata which is considered the hardest to treat.

Alopecia Areata is generally asymptomatic where the patient is often unaware of  bald patches because there are no symptoms of pain or itching. Extreme stress is said to trigger the condition in genetically susceptible individuals, though inconclusive.  It is important to seek an advice from an expert for proper advice and treatment.

Alopecia can affect both men and women at any age. Its onset cannot be prevented and there are no studies to prove that healthy lifestyle can help cure the disease.

Among the products available in the market today is Novuhair. Dubbed as nature’s answer to hair loss, Novuhair is made from all-natural ingredients, including moringa oleifera, panax ginseng, virgin coconut oil, as well as the essential oils of rosemary, peppermint and lavender. Collectively these ingredients help improve blood circulation and increase nutrient flow to the scalp.

In response to growing demand from its users both here and abroad, Novuhair is now available in a special 2-in-1 Plus One pack, a combo inclusive of Novuhair Shampoo, Topical Scalp Lotion, plus an additional bottle of Novuhair Shampoo.

Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion is available in all Mercury Drug Stores and other leading drug stores nationwide as an individual purchase, part of a combo pack that includes a bottle of Novuhair Herbal Shampoo, and a 3-in-1 pack that includes the herbal shampoo and herbal conditioner.

In my hair analysis done at the event,  I  discovered that my hair still shows normal with 3 to 4 strands in my  follicle but you see, given my age, I should use Novuhair as maintenance to keep my hair not just thick but  strong and healthy  as well.

Abby Asistio helps raise awareness on Alopecia Areata

Abby Asistio, songwriter and TV host,  has been suffering from Alopecia Areata since she was four years old.

“I went through a lot of tough periods in my life. Growing up, I accepted the fact that I could never meet that standards set by the world when it comes to beauty. If I were to even fit in and be considered normal, I must resort to hiding under hats, bandanas and my ever reliable wigs,” said Abby. Abby lived through the entire process of experiencing hair fall: losing it little by little, and then deciding to shave it all completely. She even tried other hair loss remedies when she lived in the US for several years, including chemical-based products that have resulted in negative side effects.

She was just starting to finally embrace her “baldness”, when upon prodding from family and friends, Abby decided to give Novuhair a try. She experienced remarkable results in just a few months of regular use.

“It was the first time since I was diagnosed with the disease that I actually saw hair growing on my scalp. I never stopped using Novuhair since,” remarked Abby.

Abby became the newest brand ambassador of Novuhair  late last year  alongside TV host Kim Atienza. Past endorsers include hairdresser Fanny Serrano, beauty queen Gwendolyn Ruais and athlete Andrew Wolff.

“We at Novuhair are very happy to welcome Abby to our growing family. We are very happy for her as she triumphs over alopecia areata. Her testimonial is more than enough proof of our product’s efficacy,” says Sheila Mae Velilla, President of Nutramedica Inc.

Things are looking bright for Abby as she recently launched her album “Beautiful”.

“I have found my purpose and hope I can continue to inspire others with my story and music. I realize now that more than a disease, I have been given a gift to impart my testimony. Indeed, one must never give up hope.” -  Abby Asistio

THE BIGGEST MOTHER’S DAY SURPRISE FOR CAMILLE PRATS

Kids love surprising their mothers on Mother’s Day. Some surprise them with portraits of their moms, some give homemade gifts, some even attempt to cook for them.

But few can say that their surprise was their Mother’s Day card printed in a national newspaper for millions to see.

That’s just what Nathan did for his mom, Camille Prats.

Weeks before Mother’s Day, while Camille was busy shooting for her TV series, Nathan visited important people in Camille’s life and asked them to write special messages for his mom.

“I want to make Mommy happy!“ Nathan said when asked about the card. A card of giant proportions, Nathan was able to get messages from his grandparents, his ‘Nongnong’ John Prats, Isabel Oli and sister Mimi.

“Nathan loves surprising his Mom - kahit nga walang occasion.” John Prats, Camille’s brother and Nathan’s ninong, shared. Last year, Nathan surprised his mom with flowers during her talk show.

The card he had signed came out on Mother’s Day in a national newspaper and billboard with the help of Bonakid Pre-School which Nathan is the endorser of.

“When we found out that Nathan wanted to surprise his mom, we wanted to help him make it as special as we could,” Aubrey Inigo, Senior Product Manager of Bonakid Pre-School, said. Together, Nathan and Bonakid Pre-School worked to make this Mother’s Day the happiest day for Camille.

Moms be Proud: Shout You The Mom!

By the time a child reaches his second birthday, his mother would have changed his diaper 7,300 times. By his 18th birthday, she would have prepared for him 19,710 meals--and spent more than 100,000 hours to his care, granted that she gets to sleep eight hours every day that is, which is doubtful. Motherhood truly is an all-encompassing vocation, which can sometimes overwhelm mothers themselves.

But what makes moms so good at what they do is that they absolutely love what they’re doing. Caring for baby while running her home, making sure healthy meals are prepared at home, and all the children’s needs are met. They do the groceries, take the kids to the dentist, and oh, and in most households, moms hold 9 to 5 jobs or run successful businesses too!

Mommy Mundo Founder Janice Villanueva says, “We admire moms for their almost superhuman qualities, their powers in time management and multitasking alongside their ability to do anything and everything for their loved ones, and they all do these things wholeheartedly and passionately at that! And because most moms do all these tasks with grace and usually with flair even, we may sometimes forget to show her some appreciation and affirmation.

Even moms themselves sometimes don’t seem to recognize their own efforts. That’s because taking on numerous responsibilities and caring for those we love come natural to us. Still, we should take pride in who we are and the important roles we play not only in our own families, but also in our communities and country.

This Expo Mom 2014, we shout out YOU THE MOM! – this is a campaign to recognize the many big and small accomplishments of all moms. Through various planned activities online and at the Expo Mom event, we affirm and appreciate all the awesome things that moms do every single day, whether they’re taking care of their babies at home, doing volunteer work for a cause they believe in, or helping out a friend in need.

Now on its seventh year, Expo Mom is the biggest event of its kind, gathering progressive, active moms in an environment that’s both recreational and educational. Showcasing beloved mom brands alongside mom-created products, Expo Mom has drawn over 60,000 mom participants since 2008. It has become a venue for like-minded moms to establish lasting connections and has also become the catalyst for the mompreneur movement in Manila. This year’s Expo Mom will feature over 60 booths at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center, Palm Drive, Ayala Center. Expo Mom 2014 will also feature all-day talks, demos, and raffle draws.

Expo Mom’s You The Mom! campaign puts the spotlight on all the unbelievably good things that moms do by featuring 10 women whose stories represent every mom who has made a difference in her community, her family and in her child’s life. Real portraits of these moms, as photographed by Cres Rodriguez-Yulo, will be showcased via in an online gallery, hoping to spur on a complimenting social media campaign encouraging everybody to take the time to post a #youthemom statement. Statements from moms can be a post on what they are most proud of as a mom. For non-moms, posts can be a shout out all the good things that your mom has done for you or recognize a mom friend who inspires you. By using the hashtag #youthemom and #expomommanila, posts will be tracked and 3 of its participants will get a chance to win sponsored shopping sprees at Expo Mom.

At Expo Mom, a “You The Mom!” signature wall will allow moms to write their statements on what they are most proud of as a mom. “You The Mom!” is a celebration of motherhood,” Janice says. “We want to give value to moms who make a difference in the lives of our families and influence the course of our country. If you know of such a mom, give her a hug today to show just how much you appreciate her. If you’re a mom yourself, go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back because you’re doing an awesome job! You The Mom!”

Entrance to Expo Mom 2014 will be a requested donation to MomShare’s literacy projects. One hundred percent of Expo Mom’s entrance fees will go to its partner beneficiary, Kinder Project, which aims to provide reading tools and training to public school teachers in Quezon City and Payatas.

Mommy Mundo Privilege Passport holders get in free and will bring home a You The Mom! Tote bag. To apply for a Passport, log on to www.mommymundo.com/passport.

Awesome Food & Culture Secrets of Lucky Chinatown

It was a privilege for me to be a part of Awesome Food and Culture,  Secrets of Lucky Chinatown Tour last Saturday, May 3, 2014.   I was ecstatic to join the tour in  one of the world's oldest Chinatown, Binondo,  to  discover rich Chinese culture   and taste its delectable cuisine.

You wouldn't want to miss this kind of tour, would you?   Book now   on the scheduled dates below  hosted by Our Awesome Planet’s Anton Diaz and Mercato Group’s RJ Ledesma.  The food and culture tour costs only P888 and will run for 4 hours, from 11:00AM to 3:00PM on May 10, 24 and 31 and on June 7, 2014.  You can buy tickets at the Lucky Chinatown Concierge or the Eastwood Mall Concierge.

During the tour, I was able to experience  Filipino-Chinese culture and at the same time I tasted  the  best of  Binondo's cuisine.   Here's what we had during the tour that fed  not only our stomachs but our minds and souls as well.

Our first stop was at Botanical Herbal  Hall located at Lucky Chinatown Annex A.   Tea is well known for its medicinal benefits and is believed to have been enjoyed by the Chinese for more than 4,000 years.

We  were able to taste different teas like the Lo’5 or Momordica Grosvenor Five Flowers Tea, with Oriental Wormwood, Chrysanthemum, Honeysuckle, Selfheal and Kapok, which can help reduce phlegm, the Snow Pear Chrysanthemum Tea, said to improve eyesight, Maybloom tea, which is good for lowering lipids and Plum Tea, which aids digestion.

RJ Ledesma  hosted the event and toured us around Lucky Chinatown

Our second stop was at the Miao De Temple, where we were given  lit incense and learned more about the meaning of this age-old ritual.

When a devotee offers incense, it a sign of homage and respect being offered in veneration of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

The incense sticks symbolizes self-discipline and deep concentration. The offering of burning incense which fills the air with fragrance symbolizes the virtue and purifying effect of wholesome conduct. This urges us to cease all evil and to cultivate all of the good.

After giving a short instruction of how to do it,   here at the above photo, I bowed and  proclaimed my wish.

Next was a feast of delicious dishes at the Chinatown Walk – from Fu Dao Dumpling, Sate Seafood Noodles with Dumplings were served,

Sate Seafood Noodle with Shrimp, Noodles Dumpling, Taiwan Pechay in Sate Soup Base.

Sate Spicy Soup

Cha Cha Food House dished up Wanton Noodles and Pumpkin Cake (said to be good for the skin), two dishes popular in the northern region of China.

Other Fil-Chi favorites like Cua Pao, Maki Mi and Fresh Lumpia were also on the menu, courtesy of Mr. Fast Foo.

At Reflexion’s Studio, we learned more about traditional Chinese wedding and engagement practices,  like the tea ceremony and “teng hun” described as an act of wedding etiquette performed by the soon-to-be-wed couple before their wedding.   After the tour at Reflexion's Studio, we were given a commemorative photo of  our  tour group.

At Phoenix Dragon,  we learned about  a forecast on the Year of the Wood Horse from a renowned feng shui expert.

The Feng Shui expert gave us a short  information about  Phoenix Dragon and later showed us the cleansing jar.  He put some of  the bloggers' crystal  and  removed the negativities from the charm bracelets  using  the jar.

.

Mr. Texan also offered us  their  signature fried chicken, Texas Fried Chicken. It  is so  tender and juicy.   I could taste the outside crispiness and savored  the  tender meat inside.

Texas Fried Chicken

We were refreshed  by  Rainbow  Snow  with their  very refreshing summer treats.  The store is a dessert place inspired by the Taiwanese dessert culture located at the Food Junction at the 4th Floor of Lucky Chinatown.

Rainbow Snow specializes in snow ice, which is like a mix between ice cream and sorbet.

The Chinese also have a long and varied history of medicinal practices and at Lucky Chinatown’s Wellness Sanctuary.

Choose between trying acupuncture, tui na or fish spa. Acupuncture is a system of healing that involves pricking of the skin or tissues with needles to alleviate pain and to treat various physical, mental, and emotional conditions that originated in China.

Wellness Sanctuary also offers Fish Spa Therapy services wherein tiny fish, called the Doctor Fish, clean off the dead skin in various parts of the customer’s body.

The experience, both cleansing and relaxing, was followed by a sampling of another traditional Chinese food practice – the lavish lauriat. The word "lauriat" is actually derived from the Fookien dialect and means special occasion. A lauriat usually consists of at least 10 special dishes and dining lasts for hours.

Another feast to delight your stomach is  Tao Yuan's  best-sellers delicious Mango Lau-Lapu, which is fried lapu-lapu with ripe mango and green mango sauce and their Hainan Chicken with Chicken Rice.

“Being a heritage project, Lucky Chinatown is committed to showcasing the best in Filipino-Chinese culture. So we are very excited to partner with food experts like Anton Diaz and RJ Ledesma to bring people the Awesome Food and Culture Secrets of Lucky Chinatown Tour this summer. It’s a great introduction to different aspects of Chinese culture and the variety of Chinese cuisine, all in one place,” said Kevin L. Tan, First Vice President and Commercial Division Head of Megaworld Corporation.

For recreation lovers and foodies, this tour is a can’t miss experience!

G Stuff and Green Initiative's 2014 Summer Destinations

Whenever  there is a new product in the market, I always check the label and its ingredients if  it is natural whether for  food and non food items. In today's world of  instant products, I always make sure that I  purchase  only what  is safe  and natural  and has no  content  that could possibly  harm my system.

And now, for some good news!   Just recently,   Environmental advocate Gina Lopez launched  G Stuff  products that are natural, clean and healthy.    The  product  came up with the concept  of helping the communities while saving the environment and letting the people from the metropolis experience the beauty of using the products from the fine ingredients of nature.

The G Stuff store is  located at Rockwell, Power Plant Mall.  Dubbed as G LOVE,  new array of massage oils, chocolate truffles, salad dressings and gluten-free tarts are now available in G Stuff store.

G Stuff contains products with natural ingredients from identified ecotourism areas. Its name speaks for its advocacy as G stands for so many things: G is green because it’s good for the environment. G is good for the community – 100% of the profits will help sustain their livelihood. G means gift because there will be flavorful and exciting array of products.

G Stuff’s moringa varieties of facial soap and fluid, night cream, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body scrub.

G Stuff is deeply engraved with the principles of Bantay Kalikasan’s Green Initiative – a movement that works with various sectors to create and promote ecotourism sites all over the country at the same time to provide sustainable livelihood to communities through the use of abundant natural resources. The G Stuff products’ main ingredients come from nature. Virgin Coconut Oil from Brooke’s Point Palawan, pili nuts from Bicol and essential oils from Cagayan de Oro and Butuan are just some of the many examples.

Premium recipes by top chefs in the country are also being offered in the store. These are Chef Myrna Segismundo’s carabao cheese with pili nut and cherry tomato marmalade; Chef Gilbert Pangilinan’s red onion & Palawan and wafu dressings and; Chef Him Uy’s pili trail mix. Herbal Rub and Salve

“Every time you buy from G Stuff, you are integrating your energies with us, as we form this beautiful web of life, which will make this country a much better place to live in. So buy from G Stuff all the time. It’s good for you. It’s good for the country. It’s good for the community. It’s good for everything,” Lopez articulated.

Lopez also discussed Green Initiative’s 2014 Summer Destinations which was recently launched. These are the ecotourism areas of Palawan, Sibuyan Island in Romblon and areas in Bicol.  Tourists and travelers are sure to enjoy travel packages, activities and accommodation that are guaranteed to be safe, comfortable and yet, can bring the explorer in them.

The combined funds from G Stuff and Green Initiative’s summer destinations will be utilized to further cultivate more ecotourism sites and to organize trainings on manufacture and production for communities.

Lopez only had one goal in putting up the store – that is to help the communities improve their living conditions while preserving the environment.

Gina Lopez invites everyone to visit G Stuff store located at 3rd floor of the Power Plant Mall. The chances of uplifting the lives of communities become more and more possible for every purchase.
