Manila at its coldest

I can't imagine waking up to this temperature, 16.9 Degrees Celsius. It is so far the coldest I've ever experienced here in Manila. While I'm updating this, I can still feel the cold temperature and it is already past 8am in the morning.

And Baguio.. And I suddenly miss our trip last year. Could you imagine how the weather is going on there right now.  It is said that the  temperature up north is recorded to be 8 degrees and even colder in Sagada where vegetables were reported to have frost bite. I can only sigh. If only I can transport myself up north today and somehow experience a winter-like morning with the locals.

According to PAGASA, the coldest ever recorded was 6.3 degrees on January 18, 1961. This cold weather will continue to experience cooler days until the end of February, when the northeast monsoon or “hanging amihan” ends according to PAGASA. The northeast monsoon or seasonal winds from the northeast is the cold air from China that starts blowing into the country every mid-October. It usually peaks from early January to mid-February.

Yellow Warning for Metro due to Storm Gener

Storm Gener is getting stronger as it hits Western and Northern Luzon. Tweet from  ANC:  for 10pm advisory: Yellow warning for Metro with moderate to heavy rains to continue for the next 3 hours. Floods possible.

I just hope that there is no flood because of possible landslide in some low lying areas. There is no storm signal in Metro Manila but the wind started to blow stronger. I could feel the wind   as it  closed  the door by itself  with a big bang.  As of 11:20pm, classes in many cities in Metro Manila are suspended.   DepEd also announced suspension of classes in Manila  tomorrow  from Kinder to HS.

Signal No. 2  Cagayan, Calayan Group of Islands, Babuyan Group of Islands
Signal No. 1 Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Batanes Group of Islands

Gener  will bring  heavy rain  as the storm is  expected  to enhance  the Southwest Monsoon.

Binga, Magat and Caliraya Dams are now on spilling level.

What to do during the typhoon:

Stay indoors and watch TV or online news for weather update.
Have a flashlight and radio with battery in case  there is power interruption.
Have enough supply of food and water.
In case of flooding, turn off the main switch and gas.

Keep safe everyone.

Juan Exited

It's gloomy again today and typhoon Juan already left PAR but PAGASA spotted new potential storm. Anyway it is still far from the area and government's main concern is now focused in the trail of destruction that super typhoon left. I think PAGASA made a very impressive report for this weather disturbances. They learned already from the past and kept the nation updated for latest weather condition every hour. Although recent damaged were estimated to be in billion pesos, because of preparedness, only few people were hurt and died in the storm compared to super typhoon that already hit the country with the same signal.

Ondoy-like rains

Did I read it right? I was just browsing the net and found this in the news. Storm Megi to hit Cagayan Valley, may bring Ondoy-like rains? source. OMG! I pray to spare this country again from devastating flood. It was just last year September 2009 when we experienced heavy flooding and was told it only happened once in one hundred years. Oh please, spare us, not again, not this soon :(
