SOFIA THE FIRST: ONCE UPON A PRINCESS

Disney will introduce its first little girl princess with the debut of "Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess," an enchanting, music-filled animated Disney Junior television movie for the whole family, SUNDAY, MAY 19 at 11.00am on Disney Channel and MONDAY, MAY 27 at 1.00pm on Disney Junior. A "Sofia the First" television series will premiere in July 2013.

Classic Disney Princess Cinderella Makes Special Appearance All-Star Voice Cast Includes Ariel Winter, Sara Ramirez, Wayne Brady and Tim Gunn

Set in the storybook world of Enchancia, the movie introduces Sofia, an average girl whose life suddenly transforms when her mother marries the king and she becomes a princess, Sofia the First. Sofia must learn to navigate the extraordinary life of royalty while holding on to her own hopes and dreams. Her journey to being the best she can be also paves the way for those around her to realize how special they each are. Disney's Cinderella makes an appearance in the movie to offer Sofia some words of wisdom – princess to princess.

Sofia's royal adventure begins as she prepares to move into the castle with her mom, starting a new family with her step-father, King Roland II, and step-siblings, Amber and James. Helping Sofia in her journey are the three headmistresses of Royal Prep Academy - Fauna, Flora and Merryweather (the beloved fairies seen in Disney's classic "Sleeping Beauty") and royal steward, Baileywick, as well as a group of cute woodland creatures led by a wise-talking rabbit, Clover. Sofia soon discovers that looking like a princess isn't all that difficult, but displaying honesty, loyalty, courage, independence, compassion and grace is what makes one truly royal. Created for kids and their families, the stories of "Sofia the First" communicate positive messages and life lessons that are applicable to young children. While she lives in a captivating world of castles, wizards and flying horses, Sofia remains a relatable peer-to-peer princess who is experiencing many of the same social situations as young viewers at home including learning how to fit in, making new friends and mastering new skills.

Alongside the debut of "Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess", Disney Channel and Disney Junior will launch the DisneyChannel-asia.com and DisneyJunior-Asia.com/Sofia website featuring a fully immersive royal experience. Kids can get creative, creating and personalizing their own prince or princess avatars with the Royal Me game, dressing up Sofia’s room or just having fun with the many activity pages and videos available on the site.

"Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess" stars the voices of Ariel Winter ("Modern Family") as Sofia; Sara Ramirez ("Grey's Anatomy") as Queen Miranda; Wayne Brady ("Let's Make A Deal") as Clover; Tim Gunn ("Project Runway") as Baileywick; Darcy Rose Byrnes ("Desperate Housewives") as Amber; Zach Callison ("Land of the Lost") as James; Travis Willingham ("Ultimate Spider-Man") as King Roland II; Jess Harnell ("Doc McStuffins") as Cedric; Ashley Eckstein ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars") as Mia the Bluebird and Meghan Strange ("Special Agent Oso") as Robin. Disney Legend Russi Taylor (Minnie Mouse), Barbara Dirickson and Tress MacNeille (Daisy Duck), bring Fauna, Flora and Merryweather, respectively, to life. Jennifer Hale provides the voice of Cinderella.

Craig Gerber ("Pixie Hollow Games") developed the movie and serves as co-executive producer and story editor. Jamie Mitchell ("Special Agent Oso") is executive producer and director. John Kavanaugh ("Winnie The Pooh: Springtime with Roo") serves as songwriter/music director and Kevin Kliesch ("Tangled Ever After") is the composer. "Sofia the First: Once Upon A Princess" is a production of Disney Television Animation.

OZ The Great and Powerful, review

I was one of the Nuffies (Nuffnangers) who was privileged to watch the special screening of  Oz, The Great and Powerful  last night at Shang Cineplex. I got four tickets, so even on a late  weekday night,  I tagged along  my two daughters for this RATED G  movie  date.  It's  a Disney movie and my daughters were the ones who affirmed of  going to see it  on a big screen. I  love all Disney movies.  As expected, the movie is full of unimaginative and colorful scenes.  At times, I can only  hear a few people reaction to  the scenes where I am most  amazed.  I believe these moviegoers are high critics and want to make a  movie review seriously.   There are some  slow  paced scenes  and wish I could fast forward  as I already know what to happen  in the next  part.

I  will not spoil  the flow  of the movie   so I  only added general info from Wikipedia.  If you haven't seen it  it,  go and have fun  with your family.  It's a movie that  your whole family will love. It's not only about magical powers, but the magic of believing to achieve greatness!

Oz The Great and Powerful shows that ordinary people can achieve greatness and that you don't need to have real magical powers to become a great leader or become the king of your own universe. Oz the Great and Powerful is a 2013 American fantasy adventure film directed by Sam Raimi, produced by Joe Roth, Grant Curtis and Joshua Donen and written by David Lindsay-Abaire and Mitchell Kapner. The film stars James Franco as Oscar Diggs, Mila Kunis as Theodora, Rachel Weisz as Evanora and Michelle Williams as Glinda. Based on L. Frank Baum's Oz novels, Oz the Great and Powerful is a spiritual prequel to Baum's 1900 introductory novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and indirectly to the 1939 MGM film, The Wizard of Oz. The film was released by Walt Disney Pictures on March 8, 2013, in conventional 2D, as well as in the Disney Digital 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D formats.

Plot
When Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician and con artist with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot - fame and fortune are his for the taking - that is, until he meets three witches, Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, who are not convinced he is the great wizard that everyone has been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity - and even a bit of wizardry - Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Oz the Great and Powerful special  movie screening was sponsored by  Nokia Lumia, Abenson and Nuffnang Philippines.  Three winners of Nokia Lumia went home with  big smiles.  I was wishing I would win a Nokia Lumia  too but  luck was not on my side last night  but   luckier  though  for  winning tickets to the special  screening.   Thank you,   Nuffnang,  Abenson and Nokia.
